Beloved former Vols coach Phillip Fulmer will speak in Chattanooga soon.
Chattanooga organization LAUNCH is hosting an upcoming fundraiser that will feature guest speaker former Vols football coach Phillip Fulmer.
The fundraising event with Fulmer is slated for Sept. 7. It will open with a reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., when drinks will be served.
Dinner, catered by BBQ Rowe from LAUNCH entrepreneur Pat Rowe, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and be followed by a presentation.
The local organization, which aims to empower community members through entrepreneurship, job training and mentorship, is celebrating six years in business.
“I am thrilled that coach Fulmer will be speaking at our event and helping us celebrate six years of serving our community in Chattanooga,” LAUNCH Executive Director Hal Bowling said in a prepared statement.
The vision for LAUNCH came from recognizing the potential of a more diverse group of entrepreneurs in Chattanooga, according to a news release.
The goal was to focus on those sectors most underrepresented in the entrepreneurial community: women, minorities and those living in communities of high unemployment.
With this goal and backing from the community, LAUNCH was officially born in 2011, and since its first Business Entrepreneurship Academy was held, 182 businesses have been supported and 227 jobs have been created, according to a news release.
Bowling said that Fulmer emulates a lot of values LAUNCH stands for.
“His reputation for identifying talent and coaching Tennessee football has inspired many of us and is synonymous with the work we do at LAUNCH to empower a diverse group of entrepreneurs in our city,” he also said.
Several LAUNCH entrepreneurs will provide food.
The fundraiser is open to the public, with both individual tickets and tables available.
Individual tickets are $100 and include dinner, beer and wine.
For those wanting one-on-one time with Fulmer, as well as an official photo, VIP tables are available for $900, and they come with two tickets to meet the coach.
Tables of eight are available for $600. Individual tickets can be purchased here.
